30 percent rise in car sales for Mahindra and Mahindra Ltd. in August 2011

Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. reported for the month of August 2011 a rise of 30 percent in the automobile sales to 37,684 units from 28,903 units in August 2010. The domestic sales for the company also saw a rise of 31 percent from 27275 units in August 2010 to 35756 units in August 2011.

The re-launched Verito sedan by Mahindra & Mahindra has maintained its upward growth trend and sold 1710 units in August 2011 compared to 801 units sold in August 2010, a growth of 113 percent. The passenger vehicle segment saw a growth of 14 percent selling 15664 units for August 2011 in comparison to 13796 units during August 2010. A growth of 67 percent was seen in the four wheeler commercial segment that includes the passenger and the load categories.

Mr. Rajesh Jejurikar, Chief Executive, Automotive Division, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., commented that the company has maintained a healthy growth of 30% in August 2011 against increasing pressures on the automotive industry.
