Hindustan Motors on August 8, 2011 launched its first 0.8 tonne small commercial vehicle (SCV)-Veer in Kolkata (India). This commercial pick-up vehicle shares its platform with the Ambassador and is just as robust and spacious. Veer features all the necessary changes made to the transmission and suspension systems needed for a sturdy load carrier.
Apart from its impressive load bearing capabilities, Veer also offers the comfort of a passenger vehicle. Low maintenance cost and easy availability of spare parts, benefits traditionally associated with the Ambassador have been passed on to its cousin Veer too. The new Veer will be available in both diesel (BS III) and CNG (BS IV) versions and in two models – VEER and VEER LX. Where Veer has a separate load tray, Veer LX‘s load tray is integrated with the front cabin.
Launched in East India, the vehicle will be available pan-India over the current fiscal year (2011-2012). Veer which is initially available in two colours- Marshall Cream and Stack Brown, has its diesel version being offered at an inaugural price of Rs. 3,30,000 (ex-showroom, Kolkata).
