The launch date for the new Skoda Laura RS has been announced by Skoda Auto India to be August 31, 2011. Mated with a 6 speed manual gearbox, the new car will feature a 1.8 litre TSI engine, which delivers a maximum power of 160 bhp. It will has various security features such as air bags, rear seat belts, fog lamps and anti-lock braking system (ABS) along with Electronic brakeforce distribution (EBD) and Electronic Stability Programme (ESP) technology. It is expected that the car will be priced higher than the existing Laura range.
The RS badge, which stands for Rally Sport, was earlier donned by the Skoda Octavia. The badge would add to the car, a chrome tipped double exhaust and features like xenon headlights with dynamic angle control, LED daytime running lights and fog lights. Included in the sports enhancements are a boot spoiler, a three-spoke steering wheel and steel pedals. Also, the car will come with 17” Zenith alloy wheels as standard and 18” Neptune light alloy wheels as optional.
