Skoda Auto India reported a growth of 98% to 2,412 units in the month of July 2011 from 1,222 units in July 2010. The company is planning to launch two new cars in 2011, the Laura RS and an entry level sedan. Skoda plans to achieve global sales of 15,00,000 units, double its current sales, by the year 2018. It is counting on its sales in the Indian market to form a significant chunk of its global sales. According to Mr. Thomas Kuehl, Board Member, Sales and Marketing, Skoda Auto India, the company is focusing on the dealership network and an improved customer experience & after-sales experience.
Skoda is also planning to extend its Skoda Yeti Performance Drive, which has been well received in South India, to other parts of India such as Delhi-NCR, Chandigarh and Ludhiana in the North and Ahmedabad & Mumbai in the West. The event features numerous challenges and obstacle courses to grab the attention of customers and showcase the capabilities of the Skoda Yeti.
