In light of the skyrocketing petrol prices, Italian automobile giant, Fiat, has decided to bring down the prices of its diesel cars to the level of its petrol powered cars. Fiat, which is renowned for its advanced diesel technology, hopes to significantly improve its sales and benefit from this advantage over other car manufacturers.
Fiat is heading the diesel revolution all around the globe including India, said Rajeev Kapoor, president and chief executive, Fiat India. According to Mr. Kapoor, this pricing strategy is based on the fact that with the rise in petrol prices, diesel cars are being considered as an alternate proposition by the customers. Moreover, this incentive will cater to the customers who prefer buying a diesel car owing to its low running costs but are discouraged due to the premium pricing and higher initial investment of the diesel powered automobiles.
