Ford volunteers remodel two schools

As a part of its commitment to develop communities around its eco system, Ford India revamped two schools belonging to two neighbouring villages (Chitamanur and Kizhakarnai) of its Maraimalai Nagar plant in Tamil Nadu.

Strong volunteerism demonstrated by the Ford India workforce made the renovations possible in two months time, a period when the chools were closed for summer vacations. As a part of the renovations, the roofs and floors of the classrooms were reworked on apart from providing new furniture at the Panchayat Union Primary School, Kizhakarnai. Ford India also distributed schoolbags, books and new uniforms to over 700 children.

Balasundaram Radhakrishnan, Vice President, Powertrain Operations, Ford India, at the function of handing over the school back to the school authorities in Kizhakarni commented, “We hope the improved facilities will motivate the students to study better. The new books, bags and uniforms will uplift their morale and help them start the session on a happy note.”
