Ford churns out a 3-cylinder EcoBoost motor

To make its cars more fuel efficient, Ford is adding on to its Eco-Boost line of motors. The Ford Dunton Technical Centre (U.K.) has manufactured a 1.0 litre three-cylinder engine to power its small cars globally.

This engine will be one of the most technologically advanced and fuel efficient engines ever produced by Ford. It will come with turbocharging, direct-injection and twin independent variable camshaft timing (Ti-VCT). Power performance of this engine will be as good as that of a 1.6L four-cylinder.

So far this engine has not been fitted into any car, but the company has announced that the three-cylinder will soon be available globally in its small cars.
