Even in the midst of the current economic slowdown, auto company Ford Motor is planning to add 1,000 more employees to its 6,000 strong staff in India. The company’s earlier projection of a $500 million investment in India also remains unaffected by the slowdown. Ford India President and Managing Director Michael Boneham said in Chennai this week that the company’s plan to launch a small car in 2010 is on track. The car will be available in both diesel and petrol variants and will be equipped with a 1000cc-plus engine. It will be exported to Asia Pacific and African countries by 2010-11. Though Boneham declined to comment on the car’s price, he did say that it would be ‘highly competitive’.
