Nissan India tries to bring back life to its hatch back

Nissan Micra

We were recently called in to the little but ancient city of Madurai by Japanese manufacturer Nissan, so we could take a look at their face lifted Micra hatchback. The Micra was the first car for the masses in India made by Nissan and it struggled to make an impact on the market even though it was a very decent product. It did lack a very attractive design but it was still modern in its own right. But now the exterior has gone under the knife and the new Nissan Micra looks better than before.

The Micra now gets a sportier front bumper and an added length of just a few millimeters. The front grille gets some chrome touches that make it look more attractive and the rear taillights are now LED, which is the first for any hatch in that segment. The interiors follow much the same design as before, but the materials used are now better and there is also a new audio system, stereo mounted controls, smart key with push start stop, and the petrol engine will now come with the option of an automatic CVT transmission. Nissan seems to have made a few important improvements, but they really need to think about pricing, since most high-end hatches don’t sell very well, and with the addition of such impressive features in a hatch, we can only imagine that the price of the Micra will also increase.
