The country’s largest luxury car maker Mercedes-Benz launched the much anticipated luxury SUV, the new GLC ‘Edition 1’ in New Delhi today. The GLC is introduced as a CBU and will be available in both petrol and diesel variants, the GLC 220 d and GLC 300 will give its discerning customer base in India a choice of engines. The GLC is Mercedes-Benz’s key product that never had a predecessor in India, positioning itself between the GLA and GLE luxury SUVs. The standard packages start at just Rs.63, 000 for the petrol variant and Rs. 78,000 for the diesel variant. The GLC 220d diesel engine produces 170bhp power and 400 Nm of peak torque, while the GLC 300 petrol engine churns 245bhp power and 370Nm of peak torque. Both engine motorized by the 9G-TRONIC transmission.
The GLC features permanent 4MATIC all-wheel drive and a DYNAMIC SELECT Controller with 5 driving modes – Comfort, Eco, Sport, Sport +, Individual. The GLC also comes with an off-road package that includes araised suspension of 20 mm and offers three off-road driving modes – Off-road, Incline, Slippery, Downhill Speed Regulation (DSR) included as standard. Other features include Panoramic sliding sunroof,MB Apps with internet connectivity, THERMOTRONIC automatic climate control,Ambient lighting with three colours and five dimming levels for the desired lighting mood, Audio 20 CD with Pre-installation for Navigation | CD player, Touchpad with Intuitive operation by finger gesture, and Garmin MAP PILOT that expands the Audio 20 CD with touchpad into a fully fledged Garmin navigation system and a 7 inch colour media display.
