Volvo S60 to be launched in India by end of 2010

Sweden based car company Volvo will be launching its luxury sedan, the S60, in India by the end of 2010. The S60, which was phased out in May this year, will be re-introduced in Europe in an advanced version in the middle of 2010. It will be after its re-launch in Europe that the car will come to India. Volvo Car India Managing Director, Paul de Voijs, said that the company will consider setting up an assembly plant in India only after an annual sales target of 2,000-3,000 units in the country has been achieved. Volvo cars are currently available in India as Completely Built Units (CBUs). The Swedish carmaker will bring the S60 to India from its main facility in Belgium. Volvo’s facilities in Sweden and Belgium still have a lot of unused capacity. The company is also considering launching its SUV, the Volvo XC60, in India sometime soon.

  1. The booming luxury car market of India is ever ready to accept these new models. The S60 appears to be a great model and is sure to make heads turn. The car should be costly, but what would possibly be the price of the car.
