M&M to restructure top-level management

Mahindra & Mahindra has decided to reorganise its top-level management to bring its automobile and farm equipment businesses closer. Mr Anjani Kumar Chaudhuri, the head of M&M’s farm equipment department, is due to retire in early 2010. After his retirement, the company’s auto and tractor businesses will both be headed by Mr Pawan Goenka, who currently heads the auto division. Rajesh Jejurikar, Chief of Operations, is second in command.

M&M’s Vice Chairman and Managing Director, Mr Anand Mahindra, had earlier said that the company had a succession plan in place, indicating that next-generation top executives were being groomed for their future roles for a long time. Mr Mahindra had praised Rajeev Dubey, the head of corporate HR, for putting in place a very effective talent management process, under which each top executive was to provide a succession plan.
